We have been able to see God at work through the establishment and ministry of the InJoy Thrift Store over the last 6 years. This is a cooperative venture between the NRBA and Deaf Opportunity OutReach. Although the association receives none of the proceeds, over one million dollars has been donated to Christian ministries. Half goes to Deaf Opportunity OutReach, (which plants churches for the deaf around the world), and 13 local community ministries. Contact the association office or website to learn more.
Local ministries currently supported include: Tar Roanoke Chaplaincy, Christian Adoption Agency, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, My Sister’s House, Your Choice Resource Center, Christ-Can, United Community Ministries, Peacemakers, Faith Christian Ministries, Pregnancy Support Center of Roanoke Rapids, Union Mission, Angel’s Closet, and Hannah’s Place.
The association is fulfilling the desire to strengthen churches by working together in ministry. We are also promoting an outward ministry focus by connecting churches to the needs of the local community and the world. Being part of an association makes it easier to be involved in ministry.
The effectiveness of InJoy is possible because of donations, shoppers, and most importantly volunteers. We are thankful for each person that has served in this ministry so faithfully. Everyday workers from many churches come together to minister to others. If considering volunteering :
Some workers have been at InJoy from the beginning while others serve for a season.
Both men and women are needed to fill the many tasks required.
Training only takes about 30 minutes but bring a spirit of service, commitment, cooperation, and joy in the Lord - which is always required to serve others.
You will be impacting the lives of thousands of people, but the person that will be blessed the most is you.
InJoy being a good steward of God’s material blessings, InJoy finding good stuff at thrifty prices, InJoy being part of Kingdom work.
If you could volunteer a few hours each week, contact Mike Edwards at the store (252 442-8484).
